On Thursday, January 31, I  participated in a school cooking challenge at Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre in Scarborough hosted by the MP for Scarborough Southwest Bill Blair. Youth from three schools cooked up yummy dishes from typical products found in food banks.  It was to demonstrate how nutritious meals could be made by those having to rely on food banks.

AGE-WELL hosts first Day on the Hill  

AGE-WELL researchers, trainees, startups and innovation hubs showcased new   technologies designed to support healthy aging, and interacted with MPs, Senators and government staff.

The event was sponsored by Senator Art Eggleton and featured the launch of the AGE-WELL National Impact Challenge by Bill Blair, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and to the Minister of Health.

Great Big Crunch on the Hill

Launched nine years ago by FoodShare Toronto, the Great Big Crunch is a yearly moment of anti-silence in which children from across the country bite into apples in unison to celebrate Nutrition Month and call attention to the need for healthier food for kids.

2017 National Governors Association Summer Meeting – Providence, RI

In light of the upcoming NAFTA negotiations, Canada sent a delegation of Canadian Parliamentarians to the National Governors Association Summer 2017 meeting to reinforce the strong trade relationships between our country and the 50 US states, two-thirds of which list Canada as their largest export market.

Autonomous Vehicle Demonstration on the Hill

Currently, the Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications is conducting a study on automated vehicles. As a part of the study, committee members had the chance to take part in a demonstration of an autonomous (driverless) shuttle as it made its way around a circuit on Parliament Hill.
